Welcome to the Online Intent to Register in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Application

2024-25 School Year

TK Registration and Enrollment Process:

*For children who are turning 5 years old between September 2, 2024 and June 2, 2025, you may begin the enrollment process at the school site

Children who turn 5 years old by September 1, 2024 are eligible for Kindergarten, however, some parents may express interest and wish to enroll their Kinder-eligible student in TK instead. Children who turn 5 years old between June 1, 2024 and September 1, 2024 (who are Kinder eligible), may apply for TK. According to current CUSD Board Policy (BP 6170.1(a)): Upon the request of a student's parents/guardians, the District may admit into the TK program a child whose fifth birthday is between June 1st and September 1st. Requests may be made by parents/guardians by submitting an Intent to Register in Transitional Kindergarten form. Requests will be considered only after TK numbers are confirmed for the coming school year.

Step 1: Families will submit an “Intent to Register in Transitional Kindergarten for the ’24-25 School Year” form. (Intent to Register form for the 24-25 school year will be available January 29, 2024)

Step 2Intent to Register forms will be reviewed by the Early Childhood Programs office in May/June 2024, and placements in a TK class will be made based on availability.

Every attempt will be made to place in a family's first choice.  If the school is not available then the child will be placed in the next nearest location to the school of residence that has space.

Step 3: Once a student is placed into a TK program, a placement letter will be sent by the Early Childhood Programs office via email to the family which outlines the next steps to be taken in the registration process. Families will finalize the enrollment process at the assigned school site, bringing their placement letter and necessary documentation (as outlined in the email).
